What is Sports Therapy?

Sports Therapy is a branch of healthcare designed to prevent injury and rehabilitate individuals back to optimum levels of functional, occupational or sports-specific fitness, regardless of age and ability.

Sports therapy offers a comprehensive approach to improving physical health and athletic performance. By focusing on the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of sports-related injuries, sports therapy helps to enhance mobility, flexibility, and strength.

With a tailored treatment plan from our therapist, you can address each of your needs, aiding recovery times, reducing the risk of future injuries, and optimising overall performance.

Whether you are recovering from an injury, managing chronic pain, or striving to reach new athletic heights, sports therapy provides the necessary support and guidance to keep you moving forward.

What can sports therapy help?

When it comes to injuries, aches and pains, many of us tolerate what we have, believing they will come right with a little more time.

However, should such niggles fail to resolve, they can amplify, causing additional problems and potentially having an adverse impact on our functional well-being.

Within sports therapy and rehabilitation, a variety of modalities are incorporated to holistically assess and manage musculoskeletal issues that manifest as a result of inflammation, dysfunction and other pathologies.

Sports therapy and rehabilitation utilise the principles of musculoskeletal science incorporating physiological and pathological processes to enable individuals to restore function and vitality, empowering wellness and returning patients to optimal fitness and function, whether for sporting prowess, or everyday life.

Issues that sports therapy can help include:

  • Ligament injuries and tendinopathies

  • Sprains and strains

  • Arthritis

  • Bursitis

  • Rotator Cuff Injury

  • Jumpers knee, runners knee, meniscus injuries

  • Alignment injuries

  • Plantar Fasciitis

  • Tennis and Golfers elbow
